10/23/2007, Catalina Island
We left Channel Islands marina on Friday 19th and headed for Catalina Island on our way to San Diego. As we left the harbor, we noticed a Ketch about our size about ¼ mile in front of us, so of course, the race was on! When we managed to get alongside (ok we motor-sailed) we realized it was our sister ship, another Pearson 365 Ketch. I kept saying, "Something looks familiar with that boat" and then I noticed the sail logo and was happy to see we were traveling in good company.
At 2200hrs we were on a mooring ball in Two Harbors and celebrated with an ice cold Pacifico, some cheese and crackers, and then crashed for the night and will then head for San Diego in the morning.

With our trip to Mexico now just 16 days away, the crew of THIRD DAY are busy making final preparations. First Mate Amy and Boson Jason did their part for dingy motor security today. Our brand new Yamaha 15hp 2-stroke outboard now sports a new coat of "anti-theft" paint. It can't be seen in the photo, but some glow in the dark paint was added just to spice things up. They wanted to take their paint brushes to my new Walker Bay Genesis RIB, but I had to draw the line somewhere! The dingy will be protected by a nice stainless steel cable, but I may let them paint up the Sunbrella dingy chaps that Admiral Lori keeps threatening to make with that blasted sewing machine that has been sitting in my kitchen for way too long!
