Tepic on Tuesday and then Leaving San Blas on Thursday, Maybe.

Today we took advantage of the new marina that opened for business last week here in San Blas; however, the word OPEN means something different down here in Mexico. There is no water or power yet at the slips, there is no hot water for showers, there are washers but no dryers at the laundry, and the roof-top spa bubbles away with cold water. But on the good side the facility is brand new and spotlessly clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. We washed about 6 loads of laundry but because there are no working dryers, everything from our bedding to my underpants are now hanging from every available space on THIRD DAY, giving us the total cruiser trash look. For $50 pesos ($3.85US) we purchased use of the marina facilities which gave us access to the dryerless laundry, the pool and cold spa, as well as the brand new clean showers, but without hot water! So while the clothes washed, the kids swam and then we all took long cold showers without a care in the world regarding the amount of water we used. I even hear a rumor that Lori and Amy actually washed their hair Twice, just because they could.

Finally: A Cruising Style That Works for Us.

I've never claimed to be the sharpest tack in the box or put into nautical terms, I don't consider myself to be a racing sail with perfect shape, cut and performance, but more along the lines of a well worn heavy canvas cruising sail that can take more abuse and still get you to port. Perhaps other cruisers may have figured this out sooner than we did and it wouldn't surprise me if some knew their cruising style before they left port. But even though it took us 5 months of cruising to figure it out, we now understand what type of cruising style works for us.
