Eugene-McMinnville-Depoe Bay
Trapper - sunny and breezy
09/20/2009, Depoe Bay, OR elev 65'

Had been house-sitting in Eugene for a few days then celebrated my buddy Chub's birthday. What a blast! We did put on an impressive performance. (Sorry Lynne) Can't believe that we have managed to stay alive this long;)

Sadly, my cousin Shirley Bewley passed away last week. Shirley was a wonderful, wonderful lady and has always been one of my favorite people. I will miss her greatly. We had a Celebration of Life for her on Friday at a park in McMinnville that was real nice. Saw relatives that I hadn't seen in many years and saw a lot of folks I did not recognize:)

Needed an ocean fix in a bad way after that so hauled butt for Depoe Bay. Got here around 2030 Friday night, went into the Hag for a quick beer and a shot. Ended up playing with my "brother from another mother" Michael Dane for the last set...that put my mind in a lot more peaceful spot.

Michael, our friend Brady (drums) and I played at the Annual Indian Salmon Bake here yesterday. started with some light rain then cleared to a nice day. The indians that were performing had a fire burning in front of our stage so we were smoked up all afternoon. Even my dobro smelled like smoke when I played the Hag later last night. Let her air out all night in my room and it is fine now:) It was also International Talk Like a Pirate Day so everyone in town was doing a whole lot of Aaaaargh'n LOL

Down to Beverly Beach for a long bike ride this morning then to Newport to cruise around a cool old music store there. Playing the Hag again tonight. I definitely consider myself blessed to be able to play music with my friends.. not too much better than that.

May hang around the coast another day but not sure. My need to be near the ocean is a constant. My need to feel some sea miles under the keel is another constant and it is calling me. Won't be long now.....

Made it back to Eugene for a few days - will housesit for my Sis and Bro in law for a few days. Jolie - this pic is for you -- was taken at the Winchester Bay car show. Looks like your Mustang.

Came back thru Amity so got to see my cousin Butch and his wonderful wife Shirley. Always a good time seeing them. Dont get to do it often enough. Also went by the farmhouse that my Dad was born and raised in - was built in 1917 and still looks much the same. Have a pic of my dobro on the front porch of that house from when up here last year. Very cool!

Today was Lynn's birthday so Chub and I took her to dinner...two of my favorite people ... always a good time with them:)

Had the valves adjusted, oil change, lube, plugs, etc, run on my van today and she is purring along nicely. Got a 12 mile bike ride in while that was being done. Felt great! May be getting body work and paint while up here too.

Will have to hit the road again soon, I can already feel it calling me.

Working on a couple of new songs so will put some time in on my dobro tonight. Maybe playing at a friends place Sunday:)

Back in Depoe Bay once again. What a great little town - love this place! Feel very centered here. Sitting in front of a fire and enjoying the surf and solitude. Have been watching three gray whales not more than 200 yds away -- very cool:)

The pic is of Michael Dane and I playing at the Sea Hag on my birthday last Saturday. What a blast.

Heading down to Amity to visit a cousin and his lovely wife the, back to the V-Bar:))))
