Trapper is back in San Diego
Trapper 75 deg and sunny

Back in San Diego with a lot of news:

1. S/V Tiger has sold

2. I had a R total hip replacement 21JAN2010(the other done 9 yrs ago) and am R&R'ing here in San Diego. Had the surgery at Naval Hospital San Diego with a great surgeon and his team. Surgey went perfectly and have had no pain from the moment I opened my eyes in recovery. Am already on cane only and doing PT 3X/week. Doesn't get much better than this.

3. My near plans are as follows:

Mid APR: Rugby, VA for Wayne Henderson Music Festival

JUL - SEP: Back to the Pac NW to play music, travel and visit friends.

Late OCT: Nashville, TN for Resosummit then travel through Knoxville / Grainger / Washburn Counties visiting family on the Acuff side.

Will be looking for another sailboat upon my return with plans to fit her out and be ready to head south at some point.

Will be updating this blog as time goes by:)

a hui hou,

Vashon Is. to Sequim, WA to Salem, OR
Trapper .. cool, rain and wind
09/29/2009, Sequim, WA

Left Vashon Is and crossed the ferry to Bremerton, WA yesterday. Continued thru Poulsbo, thru Discovery Bay and into Sequim to visit my very good friend Tom Dam (TD). TD was a PB denizen for many years before moving up here. Met up with him at a local watering hole called the Oasis where we were firmly ensconced and drinking heavily.

At some point stupidity raised its ugly head so he and I plus a friend of his, Shirley, set out for the Islander to consume even more. Shirley and I were into the tequila at that point and she managed to drift away at an unknown point in time for parts also unknown.

Not to be cowed by the loss of a fellow traveler, TD and I just kept on going. I do remember checking into a fleabag motel and ate Japanese food before crashing. I am reasonably sure that my liver has declared me persona non grata. Called TD this morning and he was suffering mightily. Sweet creeping Jesus!

I came back to life this morning, went to breakfast and hauled ass out of town before the siren song of the Oasis began her all too familiar yodel.

Made it as far as Salem, took my cousin and her husband out to dinner and now, am about to head for the bunk.

Rained all the way down and getting chilly -- winter is coming - can feel it in my one good bone! Will get to Eugene and spend time with Chub and Lynn at the V-Bar, see my sis and husband and all my Eugene / JC friends, then start thinking about heading south to warmer latitudes, say 32 or less:) Probably head out around the 9th or so.

Will hopefully get to play dobro again with my brother from another mother at the Sea Hag as I work my way down the coast.

Vashon Island, WA
Trapper - clear and cool with some wind
09/27/2009, Vashon Island, WA

Ah, back to Vashon Is and the Jellison's. As I said, Neal and Elisabeth are both still instructing Tang Soo Do there on the island. She also teaches high school there. Neal is a volunteer firefighter and is upgrading his EMT cert.

They have a beautiful piece of property with horses, dogs and cats. Best of all, their daughter and her 1 1/2 year old son are living with them and they have a delightful household. The last time I saw her, she was a HS freshman!

We feasted on salmon, homemade zuchini soup (from her garden) and rice.

There are ferries on both ends of the island. One coming and going from Olympia, WA, the other to Seattle or Bremerton. This is a pic coming into the dock on Vashon.

It has now begun to rain and you can def feel fall / winter in the air.
The tropics are REALLY calling me now LOL.

Time has a way of slipping by and you can easily lose touch, if even temporarily, with those who mean the most to you. Hold those that you hold dear close.

Hello,

i am trying to track down Neal and Elisabeth Jellison. They were my Tang Soo Do Karate instructors years ago, and I have lost touch. Do you happen to have their number?
