Sailing with Tradewinds
October update
Fernando
10/24/2012, Key West

Tradewinds is happy on her mooring off Flemming Key. Although we are now living in the townhouse making preparations for our wedding on November 10th, we try to go out to see her a couple times a week.
This week is the crazy Fantasy Fest week in Key West. Where the weird go pro!! We have been busy for the past few weeks making costumes and building parade floats while having a great time with our Key West friends.

Nancy is back singing with the corral and I'm back producing TV commercials and making preparations to produce two weekly TV shows. Nancy is looking sexier than ever as we both are lifting weights and exercising regularly to work off the extra pounds from three months of great Mexican food.

As for our next trip, we are planning to go to the Bahamas and the Great Exuma Islands and maybe south from there this Spring perhaps sooner.

The sea is calling us once again.

Great to hear from you, however. . .
You have destroyed a myth - I pictured Fernando Too as a tall, blond, dashing and rich playboy who swept Nancy off her feet, and spends his days sailing the ocean blue. You work? You are normal? Darn! You work out? Ouch!

So glad to hear from you after so long. I could not be happier for you two!! Today is your wedding day. I am sure that it will be beautiful and lead to many years of happiness and adventure. I send my very best to you, Nancy. I hope to have the opportunity of meeting your husband when we are in KW in the spring.
Back in the water

After 3 weeks in the yard doing repairs we are happy to be back on the water at our new mooring off Flemming Key in Key West which is a short 10 minute dinghy ride to Key West Bight Marina and the historic harbor.
We picked up a used Avon 11ft dinghy and Nancy is once again comissioned as Dinghy Captain.
From our new mooring we will be sailing to some wonderful islands and places in the Keys and the Bahamas.

Neat photo. We were down at the Marina today and as I look at your photo, it is amazing how your water is so blue, and the waters of Long Island Sound are NOT. Yours is sure "mo bettah".

Does Nancy have a special cap denoting her esteemed status?

Is there a wedding being planned with a honeymoon sailing to the Bahamas? I'm wishing that for both of you! I love reading your blogs.

Working in the heat, dust, durt of the boat yard and not being on the water is making me crabby.

oh the places I could go with THAT, but I will refrain.

Happy you are both finished with the grunge work. But hey, does Dingy Captain have to do such menial labor?

All the repairs to the keel and swim plat form are complete. Nancy & I are refinishing the teak bright work and hope to splash on Monday.

After all that hard work you put into rebuilding the swim platform last year it was so sad to hear you had to do more repairs. Looks beautiful again though!!! She'll be so glad to get into the water again. Good Luck!!

I DO LIKE! Esp the rainbows (incredible), the sunsets, and the fishies. Fernando Too, do you paint?

Anywho, once you have captioned everything, I think we have most of The Book!

BTW, She looks incredible and not at all what I would expect after such a trip!

Have fun splashing Monday.
In The Yard

In the two weeks since we've been back we have done more work than our entire three-month voyage. I moved off of Tradewinds into the condo, which has take some getting used to. I find myself running between home and the boat yard where I am fixing what we broke on Tradewinds. The swim platform has been rebuilt. The fabrication shop made new stainless steel brackets which look beautiful, the repairs to the keel are finished and painted. We picked up a used dinghy and took it out for a sea trial and it works great. In another week the big girl will back on the water. We have a new home for her on a mooring near Fleming Key just outside of Key West next to my friends Bill & Nicki.

Nancy and I are already thinking about our next adventure and will let you know more later.

Good to hear an update. We were getting worried about you two. Sounds like you'll have Tradewinds up and good as new soon. Keep us up to date about travels and wedding. Best to you both!!!
