Pulled Tradewinds on Thursday, my good friend Evan and I did some minor fiberglass repair, sent the prop to the prop shop for a computer check of its alignment. The bottom is sanded and today we put a coat of bottom paint on her.

So------- We are down to the last 3 weeks before take off. :) It comes down to what we think we have to get accomplished & what we really will get finished. Pretty much on track tho. Tradewinds gets pulled this week to get a bottom job & check prop, hull etc. After that it is provisioning & packing her up. It is like - really? WOW! It really is coming together.
Fernando has been working on pumps. How many more pumps are there on a boat anyhow?
We have all of our Flags, charts, & cruising guides. The list is definitely getting smaller. But - if you know me, I just make another list.
Took the dingy out today. It seems to be ok. Maybe a little maintenance before we leave. Engines running good. Still have to give it a name. The last one, Bob, did it's last tour of duty in The Bahamas. This one is larger & more comfortable.

Here is line from a song by C W Colt, "The best things that ever happened to me always came with a change." Some people are fearful of change. Some people are fearful of the unknown and some are fearful of just about everything. The way I see it, as long as no one is shooting at you...what's to be afraid of?
You see it's not what happens to you that matters the most, it's how you react and deal with it.
That's being mentally prepared.

We went to the 'Gigantic Nautical Flea Market' In Islamorada. Nancy wanted to buy clothing, shoes and shiny things. She got a braid woven into her hair,and we picked up a rod/reel combo, a shimano jig, some line, and diesel fuel additive. Great day for bargains.

After a smooth sand and a coat of teak oil it's ready to install. Total cost to replace platform $2,700. My cost: 16 hours labor, $215 for the wood, sand paper and misc. hardware under $250 bucks. It's good to be handy.
The last big and final project concerning the vessel is a bottom job. Next week we are pulling her out of the water and going into the boat yard. "Getting pulled." "Going on the hard." "Going to the yard."
There Tradewinds will get a pressure wash, I'll do some minor fiberglass work to the keel, insatll the rebuilt swim platform and she'll get new bottom paint. Bottom paint is routine maintenance. She was pulled and repainted July 2010 which is usually good for 3 years.
