day 4
06 April 2012 | At Sea
Fernando
Sunrise finds us in setteling seas heading into the wind and seas.
The Yucatan Channel gave me concern not knowing what the seas would await once we passed Cuba. With winds still head on we then had the current of 4.5 kts also coming at us. Our average speed slowed from 7.5 kt to 4.1 kts for the next 8 hours.
Nearing the Yucatan Peninsula the current eased and the winds shifted to 20 degrees off our port bow. We set the sails in the 20-25 kt winds, Tradewinds healed to her starboard and speed went to 8.5 until the harbor entrance of Isla Majeres.
