Sailing with Tradewinds
Coming Home
Fernando
07/05/2012, Isla Mujeres

After watching the weather patterns for the past week we have a beautiful weather window for our 370nm crossing. Our course to KeyWest is NE 46 degrees. Winds are ESE 110 dergees at 10-15 mph. Wave height is 2-3 feet from 115 degrees.
So we should have wind in our sales and quarting seas off our stern if the weather guys are right.
We are departing at 10:00 and calculating a 7mph average speed should arrive in KeyWest late afternoonon Saturday.

Will post as soon as we can upon our arrival.

Moose shit pie

We eat the indigenous food and we love it, but we don't eat out all that often I like to cook and Nancy loves my cooking. Well what I cook is more like throwing things together than a gourmet cooking, but I did learn a lot for chef John Hines. No matter what I cook; mango pancakes, ceviche , shrimp breakfast burritos, salads topped with fried chicken, Nancy is always there with a great compliment and cleans up my mess and dishes after dinner.
Which reminds me of a funny story my good friend Craig told me. There were these five guys on a hunting trip in the mountains. Four of the guys agreed that if any one complained about the cooking then they could do the cooking. The fifth guy arrived the next day and didn't know about the agreement. The first night's meal that could loosely be defined as, brown slop, was prepared and served. Compliments were handed out by all of the four men. The fifth guy did not agree and complained. You can cook from now on one of the other men said. Because in this camp if anyone complains about the cooking, they cook.
For the next 5 days the fifth guy cooked and never a complaint was heard. Actually compliments were handed out in abundance. The fifth guy decided he had enough of this game and decided to make a pie from moose scat. The pie was served and not one complaint was uttered. Then finally there was a break in the silence. One of the four men said, "Best moose shit pie I've ever tasted."

I want a copy of your book when you publish you stories!

Seriously speaking of F-Too's culinary treats, I really like mango, and would love the recipe for pancakes. I will need to test this if it is going in the book! Should we also do a streaming video?

This Sunday Mexico elects a new President.

Because of this, they stop selling alcohol to locals tonight at midnight & do not start selling again until Monday. Tourists can buy something to drink at a restaurant or bar, but can't buy any in stores. So - today - everyone is buying up all the beer on the Island. Ha! We have been told there are people that go a little crazy because they can't buy their beer. REALLY??!! This should be an interesting weekend.

Well. . . . . . . I suppose the need for one's supply of beer would depend upon the size of glass , OR rifles OR whatever vessel one uses if one drinks beer with Tequila! Know anyone? Have a well-lubricated week-end! Remember it is important to stay HYDRATED in the heat!

Our internet has been down due to a lighting strike at our marina from tropical storm Debbie that fried their modem.
We will post again when when they get it fixed.

Never Never Land

Never Never Land

You know when you look at an old person, what do you think, usually? They are old, right? What else would you think? If they thought they were seventy, then you find out they are 90, then you wouldn't think they were that old. Now that we've got the old from the outside covered, and the you-look-old concept in perspective, let me throw this at you. From the inside how old are you? When you look out at the world how old do you feel? Do you think when you are 80 you are going to think like you were 90? My guess, is no matter how old you get you always feel the same age inside. And whatever that age is, it's usually not old. Unless that's what you want. So it comes down once again to what you choose. And you always get to choose.

Nancy and I share a common feeling since we have been out at sea. From the inside looking out we see the world with a youthful perspective. Life is fun, exciting with few responsibilities. Here's the really cool part, are you ready for this? WE DON'T HAVE TO GROW UP!! While in Isla Mujeres we met some fellow mariners on a 42 ft sloop, Peter & Wendy and they told us we didn't have to grow up, we could see life like a child, an the only restrictions were the ones we placed on ourselves. Nancy and I have permission to be live in Never Never Land with all the lost boys and girls. And spiritually we live a life of bliss. Here is the disclaimer:When it becomes time to chart a course, prepare to get underway, handle the vessel in any sea condition and maintain course, be ever vigilant of possible danger, maintain finances and be connected in family matters, we are grownups.

Once the guys got past the leg show (very glam BTW) I was able to settle them down so I could read your message, and you now have 1 new applicant to the lost boys club - Dennis. Den is too cautious and Jane is too much of a worry wart. It is truly a wonderful way to approach life and look at the future . I have been thinking about it since reading it and I could sure take a lesson or two from the philosophy.

I LOVE this. I am always shocked when I realize how old I am. I still see and live my life like I'm 30. No wonder I like you guys so much! I will live in Never Land with you!
