San Blas
31 March 2016
So here we are in San Blas. We are anchored in 14 feet of water and it’s a muddy bottom. There are alligators in the estuaries so I do not think I’ll be swimming here.
There are eight other boats in the anchorage, two of them showed up after us. We need to check in with the port captain. The plan is to take the dinghy to the beach where there is a restaurant that will look after it, and then take a taxi to the port captains office.
There is no internet service at the anchorage. ☹
After calling the port captain, it seems only a call is necessary. We jumped in the dinghy and headed to shore to have lunch with the locals. School was still out for Easter so it was quite a busy place.
The anchorage is quite beautiful, very green and lush. There was a banana plantation in the area. It was too hot and didn’t want to jump in the water and with the lack of internet, we decided to bug out the next day. Debra didn’t like it here :/
There was no great place to land the dinghy and no security that we could see.
