Day Three- More Moving
March 29, 2014
It is amazing just how much stuff we took off the boat over the past two days. We filled a small storage in just two days. Seems I have basically a number of kits of parts to add or repair things while underway but did not get around to doing them. Since we will operate out of a single marina this summer, we can treat those kits and related spare parts as inventory elsewhere. The trick, it seems, is to refrain from filling the spaces they occupied since we will load the stuff when we head south next fall.
We swapped snow for rain today, lots of rain. It was a very good day to move back aboard and test the napping spaces. Scurv lost no memories at home the past six months and pulled me directly to the place where he caught a squirrel last year. We have not seen the yard so full of boats but they are launching them as fast as possible. Having done this a few times, we moved into the space less than 10% of the size we have at home. Seemed natural and almost like we never left.
We are exposed to the long fetch of the harbor so the boat is moving constantly. I am thinking we will pick up the sea legs quickly and we find it comforting to sleep whilst the cradle rocks. Now the challenge is to get Scurv to face away in the bed so he does not shred us with his nails when dreaming of overtaking the lion on the Kenyan plain. .
