Nights in a marina are usually predictable, comfortable and without concern about the anchor. That usually means a great night of sleep. The fact that we are the only crew on this side of the marina merely adds to the “rural” feeling. Having retired well past sunset, a rare thing for this crew, the sleep came quickly and even Scurv welcomed the down time. He had a busy day yesterday being the ship sentry all day. The first conscious moment of the day came when we, Scurv and I, realized that the light in the cabin changed colors to the gray dawn type. He immediately mentioned the real need to go ashore lest we suffer the need for remedial cabin cleaning. The drill is now routine. I stumble around and find the clothes for the day whilst he sits by the companion way ladder and takes on the demeanor of hand grenade: “You have 4 seconds boss to get my paws on dry land or else”. Thinks I, he looks more swollen than usual, better get with it. It is when we open the hatch that the day is revealed to us. It is that moment when we decide to do the outside or inside stuff. Today looks like a definite outside day.
