Countdown to Summer on the Chesapeake
23 February 2014
With less than a month to do until we return to why Knot our thoughts are definitley turning to the new phase (lost count as to the number) of our cruise that began four years ago. Certainly, we have put some miles under our keel and learned much about ourselves, the sea and the Nation. The idea of visiting the historic sites along the way have somewhat been modified to include somesort of prioritizing. I would say that we have missed at least 95 percent of those along he way so far. We have saved some such as Gettysburg. To an infantry officer, that place is almost sacred. We spent a great deal of time in Washington, DC but mostly at the hospital that saved Bear's;s life at the last minute. We have much to see thee. I have always wanted to sail past Fort McHenry on July 4th and perhaps that will happen this year.
This will be the summer when Why Knot gets much needed TLC. We will do that between the short cruises out of the Solomons. At least that is the current thinking.
'We are now free to move about the planet with few restrictions except our well worn bods. We will come home to attend the graduation of our first grandchild. After that if mother ocean sees fit, we will be back aboard and retraining Scurv to use the pottie pad.
