Something different for us--sailing!

Bill/Sunny and windy
We moved again, this time back to Maho Bay as we needed to get to Charlotte Amalie to pick up another package, this time a dozen packets of Thai Yellow Curry(YUM!). Just cant't get enough of it. We left Zephyr and beached Puff pulling her way up on shore and locking her to a tree. Got lucky and hitched a ride as far as Trunk Bay where we could catch a "safari" cab to Crews Bay for the ferry. Got there just in time and made the 1000. Runs every hour both ways.
Once in Red Hook(farthest east point on St. Thomas)we caught another "safari" cab to Charlotte Amalie(cost $2.00) and while Tracy did some grocery shopping, I went to the Post Office and got the box. It's so easy to get boxes here and they can even be picked up on Sunday. I went to Kmart and picked up some "necessary" snacks that are a lot cheaper there than at the Pueblo Super Market. Snyders Cheese Pretzel Pieces are just $3.49 for a bag while at Pueblo, they run $5.69. A no brainer for getting more. Bought six bags so we saved a lot. Over to Wendy's for lunch and back to the "safari" and back to Red Hook for the next ferry. Catching a "safari" back to Maho is easy, getting one from Maho to Crews Bay is hard as they are scarce. Its why we stuck out a thumb and hitched a ride in earlier. Back to Zephyr and we made plans to get out of there on Tueday.
Yesterday, Tuesday, we did some thing novel. We SAILED!! Yes, that's right, we finally had a bunch of wind in sort of the right direction and we could hoist the sails and actually use them. We were heading back to the east end of Jost Van Dyke. Nice place we've visited several times with good snorkeling. We even tacked the boat as we sailed. A novelty for us since we are typically long distance cruisers that once the sail is set, we hardly touch it. This time, we had to jockey back and forth across the straight so we could make it where we wanted to go. How novel--tacking while sailing!
We had winds in the high teens to low 20s so we were making good time with water splashing over the sides from time to time. We've anchored just off Sandy Spit(18 27.104N:-064 42.834W) for the night and then moving into the small cove where we've spent our time here previously. We tried Sandy Spit but the winds were a bit too much to do any snorkeling so we stayed on board watching other boats come and go and played a game of Mexican Train Dominos.
Today, the short(couple hundred yards)move to East End Harbour at Diamond Cay(18 26.802N:-064 43.448W). There is supposed to be a big natural pool on the north shore that waves crash into making it bubble. Guess we will see today.
