Tracys vertigo is back!

This morning(Monday), when Tracy got up, she was hit with an onset of vertigo. Balance was gone so that even sitting up in bed without falling over was darn near impossible. Waves of nausea swept over her. She's had it before with the first time in Puteri Harbor Marina in Malaysia when I was back in the US taking care of errands. Luckily, she got in contact with another cruiser who got her to the hospital. So far, it's not that bad and with all the studying that we did, we are taking steps to get her past it. There is something called the Epley Maneuver where the body is reclined while twisting the head and neck and then reversing it. There are some kind of "crystals" in the ear that can get out of place and work their way around somewhere inside the ear leading to the vertigo. I don't really understand it but we are doing the steps it talks about on the You Tube videos we've watched. She's still laying in bed trying to level out so to speak. She's got some medication called Betaserc that's made to help mitigate the symptoms and she's started taking those. Now we just sit and do the Epley Maneuver several times throughout the day and hope she gets better. We're sure not leaving Zephyr today.
As for the Mexican Train game we had yesterday with Johanna and Timo off Iiris, Tracy won and I came in last. Last time, I won but not this time. The game started at 1300 and we finished the game about 1530.
It's now 1030 and Tracy has made her way out to the settee in the main salon and has had some breakfast and says she is feeling a bit better. Between the Betaserc and the Epley Maneuvers we did earlier(about 0730)she's doing better but I need to make sure she takes it easy today and maybe for the next couple of days. Not much planned so that means no problems us just stay on the boat. We have plenty of meds for her to take and plenty of time for them to do their job. The generator is running on the stern deck and everything that needed to be plugged in for charging is plugged in.
It's now 1530 and we finished lunch a short time ago. Tracy is doing much better and is resting in the stern cabin with fans blowing air on her and a tarp up over the stern deck trying to keep the sun of it and hence a bit cooler inside. Her stability is much improved.
Yesterday afternoon, a big 50 foot catamaran that had parked near us pulled up their anchor and took off for parts unknown. Shortly after that a big 52 foot ketch that's been in the anchorage but anchored outside the boundaries of the anchorage set up by the Curacao Coast Guard pulled up their anchor and started coming our way. As they came closer, we advised them that they were getting close to where our anchor as laying and they veered off and ended up dropping their hook behind us(at least by the way the wind was blowing at the time). They're about 100 feet off our stern and shouldn't come anywhere near us should the wind direction change. About 30 minutes ago, the big catamaran(Cape Grace)returned and tried to anchor where they had been before but with the movement of the big ketch, they would have dropped back right on them. They ended up circling around our section of the anchorage and dropping their hook about 150 feet off our starboard side(as the wind is currently blowing). They dropped their hook and drifted back, dropped their dinghy in the water and six of the passengers took off for parts unknown leaving one person on board should something happen(like a dragging anchor). Since we keep seeing different people on the boat, they must be a charter boat. Sure hope someone on board knows something. Strangely, just after 1800, Cape Grace pulled up their anchor and took off just as the Sun was preparing to set. Seemed strange to us to leave as the Sun was setting but even stranger was that they got to the entrance to the channel that exits the bay and promptly turned around and returned to the same spot they had just left 30 minutes before! No clue what was going on but this morning at 0600, twelve hours later, they pulled up their anchor and took off again. Where to? Well right off shore to a little island called Klein Curacao("Small Curacao") where they dropped anchor and are spending the day, probably scuba diving or playing on the beach which means they will be back again tonight to do the "anchor dance" all over again. Sure wish they would drop their hook some where else in the anchorage.
As for Tracy, she's much better today and her meds and the treatments we did for her yesterday seem to be doing their job. She can now walk through the boat without falling and other than a nasty headache is much better. I've been making our lunches since she took ill to make sure she gets her rest. Heck, I'm even washing the dishes afterwards. Got to get her well!
