It's now four days since we left Panama City.and we've been at anchor each night as there are no steady winds to help us out. It's been motor, motor, motor. We spend the first night at Isla Bona(08 34.695N -7935.654W) in a nice protected cove with next to no wind and no other boats. A short 25 mile trip. Day two saw us off for Isla Iguana(07 37.811N -79 59.658W) another 35 miles or so. This was a bit more rollie and had a rock bottom that the anchor took a while to grab a hold of. Again, another quiet night as the winds and swells seem to stop about 1700. We were up at 0400 and under way as we had 80 miles to cover to make it to Punta Naranjo(07 16.558N -80 55.63W)., a small bay just around the south corner of the Bay of Panama. It was a long day, leaving so early and we violated one of our rules and entered an anchorage after the sun had gone down but we faced westerly winds and some adverse current all along our trip. It was rocking quite badly and the kids were not impressed as were neither of us. We were both exhausted by the time we got into Naranjo and dropped the anchor. Mud and sand bottom made it dig in quickly and the four of us could finally sit back and get something to eat--fired egg and cheese in a flour burrito. We were all dropping off to sleep by 2100 but were up this morning for the trip to Isla Santa Catalina, about 33 miles, Again with wind on the nose slowing us down. Forecast had been for better weather but it was not to be. A short time ago(about 1700) we were greeted by a boat from the Panama Coast Guard that wanted to check our papers(routine they said). Only one person on board spoke some English though a few other tried. We handed over out paperwork and passports and they were all handed back quickly after a fast scan. No problem and they apologized for stopping but said it was their job. We thanked them and off they went to shore where they played so soccer. We spent the rest of the afternoon plotting our next three day hops as the winds just don't want to help us along. We should be in Costa RIca in four days at this rate.
