We'll we're just about ready to leave. We have the money back from BioSecurity, Vodafone, and the movie rental store. We still have to get it back into US currency but that shouldn't be too hard.
We'd planned on heading out on Tuesday(it's Monday here right now) and seeing where the wind takes us. Hopefully where we want to go. I sent an email to Gulf Harbor Radio(they are the weather experts that have an SSB radio net program in the morning) last night asking for their advice. Their advise as of this mornings show was to wait till Friday. By anchient sailor tradition, no sailer starts a journey on Friday. It's just not done. So we will either take off on Thursday or on Saturday. Bad luck befalls any boat that dares to leave a harbor and start a journey on a Friday. We know of one boat that tried to cross the Pacific leaving Mexico three different times(had to turn back all three times due to problems) and finally gave up. They made the crossing this year, leaving on a different day.
We'll either head for Tonga and get there in time for the same festival we went to last year, or we will head up to Samoa and American Samoa. We'll see which way the winds want us to go.
Today, into town with gas and diesel tanks to get them filled. We have three gas tanks that are now empty and unfortunately, only one diesel tank for carrying back fuel to Zephyr. it might take three to four trips to refill what we used getting over here but that's alright. We also have to find a welder to fix the grate on the top of the stove. One of the steel grate rods on the top of the stove broke off so it needs to be rewelded, hopefully before we leave. If not, well I'm sure there is a welder where ever we end up.
Yesterday was laundry day again. We want to make sure we get out of here with as much clean clothes as we can. Water is closer for replacing what we use to do the job. We at least had some sunshine yesterday but it doesn't look like today will be anywhere near as nice.
Stay tuned. We'll let you know what tomorrows forecast is.
The picture is of a ship that sank sometime in Suva Harbor. There are several that dot the bay just around the corner from where we are moored.
