Hot and Sunny(no rain)
It's up in the 90's again and boy it is HOT here at the marina. Glaring Sun beating down on the boats. Everyone has some form of a canopy over their boat to try and keep the inside cool. We have one covering the middle section and another covering the stern sleeping compartment. It's better but is sure does get warm here. Just glad the humidity isn't as bad as it has been on other islands.
Today was full of projects. The batteries were fully charged this AM so we grabbed the distilled water we bought yesterday and pulled off the seat cushions and the lids that cover the battery storage compartments. Off came the lids to the boxes and with a big syringe in hand, I filled each to where it should be. We allowed the batteries to keep charging till 1000 and then shut it off. We want to see how we are doing at 1000 tomorrow. So far, it's now 2130 and the meter reads 12.60 so thats great.
Tracy took down the canvas dodger to restitch many of the seams as the thread had rotted in the Sun. This time she used black thread as the white just didn't last. The canvas is so big, we have to roll it up to get it through the machine. It took a while but she finally got it all restitched. Other areas on the bimini(is right behind the dodger) also needed attention as it had chaffed through due to all the rubbing against the steel tubes that hold it up. We had to use a hot knife to cut the fabric(Sunbrella). It takes a bit of time but we burned good size panels to fix everything. I grabbed a foam brush and painted the steel that covers the wood that makes up the hard dodger. It's got it's first coat and will get a second tomorrow. A nice satin black just like it was only now the under metal doesn't show through.
We are making progress toward getting out of here and catching the rally even if it's only at the final destination of Derawan in Indonesia. Our current visa for the Philippines expires on September 9th so we are on a deadline. Get everything done or pay a bunch of money to stay here a bit longer.
Tomorrow, I'm off to Davao to get my Apple MacBook looked at and then try and find a place that will buy my old batteries. Supposedly I can get up to 400 pesos(about $10.00 US) for each one. I just don't want them to end up in a landfill. They can salvage the lead out of them. Tracy is going to finish her sewing. She is making some more throw pillows that are stuffed with extra blankets we have on board. It's cheaper than buying foam to go in them.
I'm going to post a few pictures so you can see some of the things I've been writing about. Enjoy.
