We got a call from Azizah this morning that instead of doing the entire trip to Tawau in one over night, they wanted to do it in three jumps, each about 35 miles or so. Fine by us though this means that we won't arrive in Tawau till late Friday, too late to check in to Malaysia till Monday. We may be stuck on Zephyr for the weekend under quarantine. No problem there. I guess we will see when we get to the Tawau Yacht Club. They will clue us into what is what. We upped the anchor and set out just after 0800 for todays trip avoiding the big freighters outside the harbor that were all loading coal. It's all brought out from the mainland by barges and then scooped onto the big ships. A large process that I'm sure takes days to get it all aboard. With it being about 18 miles from Tarakan to the mouth of the harbor, it was well over three hours till we could turn left and finally head North toward our next stop--Bunyu Island. Another island in the chain out here that has no harbor but a wharf. It took 8 hours and 40 miles to get here but we did. Some of it under sail and some of it under motor with sail and some of it under just the motor. It was a day of all kinds of weather including a nice rain storm just as we were leaving the harbor. It helped get the salt and the mud from pulling up the anchor over the last two days. Our anchor was set deep in this harbor and brought up a bunch of mud that had to be knocked off. Luckily, very little was attached to the chain but a lot on the anchor. Anyhow, we are now in 16 feet of water at high tide with 100 feet of chain our so we aren't going anywhere.
