What's making that noise?

Cloudy and raining.
Here we sit for another day as rain continues. It started Wednesday morning and had pretty much continued ever since with the occasional break for a half hour or so. The skies are totally overcast and the forecast is for more rain today. We got back on board late Wednesday afternoon and have stayed put ever since. The cold I got is slowly doing it's thing with a stopped up head and a naggy cough. At least no fever but I sure could do with out it. Tracy is taking all precautions to make sure she doesn't catch it. I'm sleeping in one of the bunks forward while she is in the stern cabin with the kids at her side. Blue may come to visit me as I'm going to bed but after that, she is off to be by Tracys side. She's using hand sanitizer regularly especially if she touches anything that I have touched. Smart girl. It's not a bad cold but she doesn't want it. Heck, we can't even play games as I'll be touching cards or tiles and she might pick it up for that. She is even using Clorox bleach in the wash water when she does dishes. She sprays my key board with Lysol if she has to use it. So we sit and watch shows or she plays games while I read or snooze the day away. Gee what fun.
This morning we had a bit of a concern as we heard this whirring of something running on the port side of the boat. Couldn't figure out where the sound was coming from. I turned off all the electronics and power switches and still the noise continued. Tracy pulled up the cushions along the port side but we couldn't find anything. The volt meter showed no power drain and yet the sound continued sometimes softer and sometimes louder. I opened doors and cabinets and still no source. We finally looked outside only to see one of the big ships that work on the oil rigs and had been anchored off our side for the past week had started up their engine and were slowly leaving the bay. What we heard was their propeller whirring in the water. As they got further away the sound lessened and finally stopped. It's things that this that can drive your crazy. On a boat, if you hear any strange or unusual sound, you've got to find it's source not knowing what it might be. In this case, it was nothing.
So here we sit for another day as I recover so we can go to town tomorrow. With it being Friday, all shops and businesses are closed from 1200 to 1400 so it sort of defeats the purpose of going to town and then just sitting and waiting for the two hours to pass so shops can reopen. Heck, it's raining anyway.
