HOTTTTTTT!
Well, a couple of days have passed and more jobs are getting done. Tracy gutted the port side area behind the settee and inventoried and chucked out things that were a bit questionable. Rust was another factor as far as canned things went. Some cans had lots of rust and some had none. No real sense to it I guess. I put on my scuba gear and headed down for the hull and prop. I wanted to change out the screw that holds the zinc on our Max Prop. The old screw had fallen out, taking the zinc with it. A new zinc was being held on by another screw that was too long. I had to add a bunch of lock washers to it so it would fit. It only took a couple of minutes but the old one is out and the new one is in. I even covered the threads of the new one with Loctite tape. It should keep it in place for the life of the zinc(sure hope so. While down there, I took a scrapper and got rid of what barnacles that had attached to our hull. With the new paint being so strong in anti fouling, there weren't that many to get rid of. In total, I was down about a half hour. Biggest problem doing it in here was the clarity of the water was rotten and there was a bit of a current running though the marina.
Once done, we pulled all the gear on to the marina and it got a really good washdown. Nice having all the fresh water we need for this project. Tracy brought me some shampoo and soap and I just took an impromptu shower right on the dock. The water coming from the hose was down right hot as the solar heating on the pipes bringing out the water is intense.
A while ago, we found some Johnsonville Brats at a store in Brunei. Once I was cleaned up, I fired up the barbecue and we had a great lunch of brats and buns with mustard. Add in a couple of Cokes and it was the all American lunch.
Tomorrow, Terry, Christine, Tracy and myself are all heading for town again now that the New Years celebration should be over. I need to talk to the shops at Boat Lagoon Marina about getting estimates on work we need to have done on Zephyr. Every one has been closed for the last week.
It's about 91 here now and Tracy is sitting below with a big fan bringing in fresh air from outside. I'm sitting in the cockpit trying to keep cool. It's HOT here.
