Sunny with a heat index of 119 degrees!
Yesterday, we snagged the morning shuttle to the local grocery store and Celcom store to get our dongle reloaded again for another 5 gigs of usage.
When you first sign up, the biggest amount you can get is just 1O gigs. Given that we do a good bit of downloading, we go through that quite quickly. A week ago, I got 5 gigs and it was gone by last Sunday. We topped it up yesterday with another 5 but they have to be used by the 18th. No problem there. We picked up a few veggies and headed back to Zephyr.
Tracy is making use of what she learned in our Thai cooking class and made a great Phad Thai dish that was great. No seasoning packets from the store, just ingredients from the market. It was some of the best Thai I've had.
In the last afternoon, we took the shuttle bus to the big open air market that runs every Tuesday night. Our purpose was not the food, but new batteries for Zephyr. We'd gotten directions on where the local car repair place was and we found it easily. Picked up a pair of Yokohama batteries for $325 ringitts each or just over $1OO US. We also talked to them about fixing the alternator that caused us to melt our batteries. Well, not really fixing but installing a new regulator. "Just bring it in and we will get it fixed" was the owners response.
With two batteries in tow on our cart, we brought them back to Zephyr last night and installed them early this morning. I pulled out the alternator and got a cab about 11:OO and took back the old batteries for a refund of $5O ringitts. It paid for the cab over to the store but I also got the alternator dropped off and they promised me they'd have it looked at in two days and would let me know how much it's going to cost to have it inspected and the regulator installed.
So, as of now, we can at least start the engine even with out the alternator in case we have an emergency. It's nice to know we can move again if we have to.
Tomorrow, we are off to the big shopping center. Tracy needs to find a dentist to have her teeth looked at. It's been quite a while since she had them inspected.
Busy, busy , busy.
