In for service

still hot
Yesterday, we took our Yamaha generator in for service. It desperately needs the carburetor rebuilt. When we bought it in Pohnpei, while it was still in the box, it was actually 5 years old. At least that is what the manufacturer told me when I went to register the warranty. The air filter(supposed to be a nice spongy foam) had solidified into a solid block. Sometime when we ran it, the engine sucked the filter into the engine messing up the jets in the carburetor. It still ran(thank goodness) but it ran poorly. I finally found a service center for them here in Johor Bahru. We arranged for a cab to pick us up and take it in. Now we just sit and wait to see how long it's going to take to fix it. Hopefully not too long as we are trying to get everything taken care of so we can get out of here.
On the way back to the marina(same cab) we got dropped off at Plaza Pulangi, a nice shopping center that has a a great grocery store(Cold Storage). After loading up on food as well as three bottles of wine(big sale--three for the price of two) we headed back and made all of our connections with perfect timing.
About ten days ago, I'd sent a message to the folks at Rocna Anchors as I was seeing some rust develop on the tip of the anchor as we sat here at the marina. No big deal really. I just emailed to see if I should be concerned and what I should do about it. After sending them a picture, they just sent me an email telling me that they will replace it--for FREE!!!! How's that for customer service!!! We've had it for about 2.5 years having it shipped into Fiji when we were there. Let me tell you, Rocna has held us in 55 knot winds in bad anchorages and never move an inch(one boat went up on a reef). I can't tell you how nice it is to have it at the end of our chain. I purposely bought a bigger size for our boat so I could sleep well at night and it has proven itself to be everything I'd heard it was before we bought it. Now, all I have to do is figure our how to get it(all 88 pounds of it) to where I'll be exchanging it. Oh, the cab drivers are going to love me!
