BIll/partly sunny, partly cloudy
The Sun has now set and the voyage continues. Still going on a westerly course with the occasional change when the wind shifts. It's been an unusual day in that it's been overcast all day with lots of wind shifts. From the northwest to the southeast it's been all over the place. With the wind doing that, it has made for swells coming from just about every point of the compass. Diana is sleeping or maybe just resting below on the starboard side cushions in the main salon. Being centrally located in the boat, there is less violent movement when poor Zephyr get thrown around by errant swell action. We've had just about no wind and we've had 30 knot winds. We currently have a reef in the main sail and the forestaysail up on the bow doing just 3.5 knots. Sure beats the 25+knot winds other cruisers are having south of us. It's about 90%cloud cover so sadly very little stars to watch so far tonight.
It's now the next day and we just had lunch of Kirkland Brand(yes, a can of tuna I brought back last year from the US)tuna. Right off the shelves at Costco! Lovely all white Albacore Tuna! Oh what a treat. Add in Real Mayonnaise (also known as Hellmans)some salt and pepper and some choppedUS up Pepperoncini Peppers and it was a delight. Not many left so it will be on our list to bring back next time we are in the US. Out here, finding tuna in cans is easy, but finding Albacore packed in water is very tough. We have just a bit left over that one of us will probably have late at night as we sit on watch.
Today dawned overcast and has since brightened up nicely. Lots of high fluffy clouds around us and rolling swells passing under our keel lifting us up, passing under us leaving us for the next set of swells. They're. Running about 3 meters so we are either up on a peak on down in a valley. We are still heading northwest but getting closer to the Seychelles each day, now with only 253 miles as the crow flies. Unfortunately, Zephyr doesn't fly like a crow so it's taking much longer. We left Gan in the Maldives two weeks ago tomorrow for the 1095 mile trip that we have so far gone almost 1500 miles and still not reached. Out here, a straight line really doesn't exist. We go back and forth as the wind takes us, not as we want to go. We could start up the motor and do it that way as we are now close enough that we could make it easily but there is no hurry about getting there and we sure don't want to do me in on a weekend when government officials love to charge extra fees. Time is not of an essence wither us. So we just slowly glide along knowing we will get there, just not really sure when.
Sorry, no pictures today. Sun up was really ugly and sundown last night wasn't any better.
