Bill/still trying to rain
Now we start part 2.
We walked along the main street heading for the main offices of the Port Authority. Being clear at the opposite end of town, we got a nice tour. Taylor had left us just after lunch to do his own errands. Once we got to the main gate, we were asked by the security folks what we needed. Very nice people. We explained about the cats papers and the fee we needed to pay. They directed us farther out to another building to offices on the second floor. Once to the office, we explained to one of the clerks what we needed to do. She then talked to another person in the office who then talked to the head of the office. At each person we explained where we had come from and what had been requested of us. Well the head off the office took us in tow and took us back down stairs to another office. The office manager did all the talking. We were then directed back to the building we had just left where our fearless leader took us to another office and left to go back to her office. We explained to this clerk what we were there for and that we had the cats papers and that we had been told to pay a fee for something we had no clue what it was for. This clerk then asked her supervisor what we should do. We had no invoice so they had no clue. The Harbor Master just happened to be sitting in the next office with another official. We were directed to go see him. We again explained what we were there for. He also had no clue where we were to go but he picked up the phone and started making calls. In the end, his decision was that since we had no "invoice"" to pay, just forget about it and have a nice day!!! Hey, I really like this guy!! As we were turning to leave the office, the office manager of the office we had just left came into the office and said she had found out what we had to pay for and to come back--RATS! So back to the last office and out came the wallet. What we were paying for was the Health Inspection of Fumigation we had received when we arrived. Fumigations? I just kept my mouth closed and pulled out my wallet. As far as the cats certificates, they said they didn't need them and to just keep them and handed us a receipt for the $300R. OK, fine. Problem solved so off we went.
As we headed back to town, we visited one of the bigger "markets". Not a bad selection but it's not that cheap here. It's not bad but we will be selective on what we buy. I sat down out side the market to get on line. I couldn't connect to the internet. OK, now we get to walk back to the internet offices to get that straightened out. Yes, I''d bought the $499 plan but I didn't have any money "held on my account". They need to have some money on account so that it will activate the program we were on. No clue why but that's the rule. After giving them $10R, we were up and running! Got to stop here. Staytuned for part 3
