Heading back
15 June 2015
Bill/partly cloudy
Its been a long night of rocking and rolling at anchor. We started with some wind out of the west and the occasional sprinkles. By 2200, we started having rolling swells come into the cove. With Zephyr pointed into the wind(what there was of it),and the swells coming in at a 90 degree angle, we were continually being thrown from side to side. Tracy gave up on sleeping in the stern bunk and moved to the main cabin port side settee where she was promptly thrown off by a particularly violent swell coming in. Not a happy camper at that time. Every time the wind came up or it sprinkled, our "buddy"boat charter turned on his lights and checked around his boat. I'm sure their night was worse. Oh, it's just after 0700 and I hear their anchor coming up. Most charter companies restrict you boats movement to between 0700 and 1700 for safety reasons. They only want you moving in day light and since the Sun is just coming up, they are out of here. I just checked and while she had some clothes on, he was just in his undershorts(that's how close they were to us). I expect we will have breakfast and head back to the main harbor and drop anchor where we started on Saturday. Get some naps and await the arrival of Night Fly, a cruiser we met clear back in Suwarrow in 2011.
Well I was right except we didn't wait till after breakfast to leave. Once Tracy was up and the other boat was gone, we started the engine just after 0800 and took off getting back to the main harbor about 1030. Down went the anchor and Into the water I went just to make sure it was set. I dove down and made sure it was positioned into a chunk of coral so i know we won't be moving anytime soon. Once I got showered to get the salt off, we settled In and got a bit of a nap to make up for what we missed.
We started the afternoon with another BLT sandwich. After so long with out the "B", we just had to have some more. We launched Puff and took off for the grocery store at Eden Island for some more provisions as well as money from the ATM there. Amazingly, the grocery store there is the only one we have been in that sells paper towels. No other store we have been in in the Seychelles does. The grocery store at Eden Island cater to a far more tourist clientele so that explains it. We foreigners are used to paper towels so that store carries them. We then shot over to the ISPC grocery store as well as GSC grocery(warehouse style store) and got more drinks and tried out their frozen meat. We got some pork tenderloin and some pork spare ribs. I'll be cooking some of the ribs for lunch tomorrow. I'll be making the sauce early in the morning so it can merge the flavors before I put it on the ribs and cook them. I'll let you know how that goes. But meanwhile the winds have died down and the swells are just about zero so all is good.
