Hauling water and getting some good luck.

Bill/overcast and cool
It's Rabbit Day again. Hopefully everyone has said Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit Day to insure good luck for the entire month. Now keep in mind that it has to be said first thing when you get up before you say anything to anyone else. I was taught to do this by my father when I was just a small child and have carried out the tradition(as often as I can remember) on the first of each month. I have no idea how my father knew it(pre Google)but apparently it comes from the age of Shakespeare. Being a sailor, I take any bit of good luck I can get.
Yesterday, we hauled some water back to Zephyr. It's always good to have full tanks of fuel and water when you leave a port. The water tap on the walkway to the pier was locked and the one at the Yacht Club is tucked back so far and covered by a good bit of stuff in storage. In the end, we had to haul it from about 250 yards away from the docks and two 5 gallon tanks begin to weigh a good bit after a while. In the end, Tracy hauled three almost full 2.5 gallon jugs while I took the two 5 gallon jugs, each of them leaking a bit as they were carried. We got them back to Zephyr and slowly poured into the tanks. I'm going to head for the Harbor Masters office this morning to see if we can find out who locked the tap that is right by the pier. It would be so much easier to use and a lot closer to the wharf.
According to Yahoo Weather, yesterday it was 104 here in Luderitz! Neither of us believe it as it just didn't feel that hot and we have been where it is really 104 before. Perhaps it was that we were on a boat surrounded by cold water? No clue but we did spend a good bit of time on shore that we would have known it was 104. This morning, the winds shifted to be coming out of the north and with it, the fog rolled in about 0830. Not dense but thick enough that you could see the shoreline and not much past it. It will be gone shortly and hopefully the winds will shift back to the south so it will get warmer. We are putting off going ashore till it gets a bit warmer. No reason to sightsee in long pants and socks and shoes that we will regret wearing just a short time after getting ashore.
The winds continue building during the day with the morning being quite calm and getting up to the mid teens by just after lunch. Sometime earlier. It varies everyday.
Today, we plan on doing some local tourist things. See the rest of Luderitz, especially the big church here in town and have a nice lunch where we ate the first day here. We hope to be out of here Wednesday and on our way to Walvis Bay. We are babysitting another cruisers boat while they are land cruising for a few days or so. Due back late Tuesday and we should be out of here on Wednesday. It's time to get out of this place.
