Wet and Windy Road

There are about six hikes advertised in the guide book for this nothernmost national park. we, of course, chose the waterfall hike. For our peeps back in Mexico- you'll know that we actually hope to find waterfalls this time since it "is" the end of the rainy season in the tropics here. The cruising guide gave gps waypoints for various hike locations, so we decided to bring the handheld. Which was a good thing, since we set out on the path and crossed two rivers before we thought to check our position. We'd overshot the turn, so turn around, head back and sure enough, the turnoff was a right turn at the second stream. After looking for a trail- there was none, we decided to walk up the riverbed a ways. Sure enough, our GPS told us we were on the right track. So after a couple of kilometers slogging thru ankle to thigh deep water, we finally got to some rapids, and a small cascade. We did have alot of fun in the clean, cool water, which was sorely missed once we got back on the muddy trail.
