Charles J Stutz
We had a pretty good night as the tidal current was with us and the Easterly winds had abated for the night. We are struggling now though! The wind has strengthened to near 20 kn from the E and the tidal currents coming out of the Channel are right on the nose. Our progress is slowed to less than 1 kn at times as we hit a series of short steep waves and it takes time to accelerate again. On the positive side the weather is nice and we know we are only about 40 Nm from the nearest land. We cannot see the coast yet as there is considerable haze in that direction. As to the ETA we have less than 200 Nm to go and under normal circumstances I would say that we would arrive on the 7th during the day. I have to admit though that my experience with Dreamcatcher in such strong tidal currents is limited and I struggle to make a good estimate of the ETA at this stage. Conservatively I would put the ETA to June 8 now as the wind will strengthen during the day in the Channel and our saili ng route will be longer than the 200 Nm as we have to tack up the Channel. There is an outside chance that we can make it during the night from the 7th to 8th but in my opinion it is only a slight chance. I will up-date again tomorrow morning, hopefully with a better idea as to where we stand. Everything else is OK on board and we are prepared for another 2 nights at sea.

All OK on board TWD - E TWS - 17-20 kn COG - 90 deg SOG - 1-4.5 kn (will increase to 5.5-7 kn once the tide turns) Baro - 1017 weather - quite nice with some haze on the horizon ETA - June 8 a.m.
