ETA for Hamburg: Mo 21:30

Hi all, after a sunny warm morning we had a showery front with strong gusts to pass us. At least the wind veered now from SE to SW so we should be able to sail tomorrow the last 55 nm to the city center of Hamburg, the strong 2-4 kn flood current will help us for 6 hours. Our arrival time is still scheduled for 21:30. Our phone numbers here on board are: 0175-1976094 0170-8140365 Andrea and I are sharing the phone with these two numbers, one should work.

departed Helgoland, arrived Cuxhaven

Hi all, we had a good time at Helgoland:: birthday dinner, Martin's farewell, visit of the "Duehne" (amall island next to Helgoland with beaches and seal colony), drank "Helgolaender Eiergrog" (hot alcoholic beverage with Rum and an eggyolk) and went swimming at the heated seawater [...]

arrived in Germany

Hi all, this morning at 1040 we arrived happy and safely at Helgoland. We got a great welcome by Lennard, Emily, Kati, Dorle (sister), Manfred (brother in law), Kerstin (niece), Hanne (niece's daughter) and Nils (niece's son). Then my aunt rang from Hamburg and told me to tune into a cerrtain Hamburg radio station where we heard her greetings and a song played for our arrival and my birthday - how nice!. Manfred organised a special berth alongside the jetty, the sun is shining the whole day and it got rather warm - so so all is good here! AHOI! Arne and the Iemanja crew and welcomers

day 18

Arne
Hi all, after I had sent off last night's blog entry, we had the expected windshift from SW 27 kn gusty with rain to NW 20 kn and a clear night sky. Only the waves were chaotic at times but otherwise we had a good night. We are really happy how the Aries windvane is steering the boat none stop through these lumpy seas without our help. The day was as a Sunday should be: sunny and relaxed with winds from the W 15 to 20 kn but the sea is still chaotic with a big notherly swell running and a westerly windsea on top of it - at times it is smooth sailing but every now and again we go rock and roll through deep holes and steep seas then one has really to hold on to something. We had fried Tuna and rice and Kati's pickled vegies for lunch and sit in the cockpit having a cup of tea and some nibbles, listening to music and talking. We had a brief visit of a few dolphins and hope to see whales once we get closer to the Azores. We heard on the net that the german boat Hitchhike Heidi has hit a whale last night and lost their tow behind generator. They made landfall at Horta this afternoon and no other damages were reported only that the skipper fell out of his bunk.

All is well on board AHOI! Andrea and Arne
