ETA for Hamburg: Mo 21:30

Hi all, after a sunny warm morning we had a showery front with strong gusts to pass us. At least the wind veered now from SE to SW so we should be able to sail tomorrow the last 55 nm to the city center of Hamburg, the strong 2-4 kn flood current will help us for 6 hours. Our arrival time is still scheduled for 21:30. Our phone numbers here on board are: 0175-1976094 0170-8140365 Andrea and I are sharing the phone with these two numbers, one should work.

departed Helgoland, arrived Cuxhaven

Hi all, we had a good time at Helgoland:: birthday dinner, Martin's farewell, visit of the "Duehne" (amall island next to Helgoland with beaches and seal colony), drank "Helgolaender Eiergrog" (hot alcoholic beverage with Rum and an eggyolk) and went swimming at the heated seawater [...]

arrived in Germany

Hi all, this morning at 1040 we arrived happy and safely at Helgoland. We got a great welcome by Lennard, Emily, Kati, Dorle (sister), Manfred (brother in law), Kerstin (niece), Hanne (niece's daughter) and Nils (niece's son). Then my aunt rang from Hamburg and told me to tune into a cerrtain Hamburg radio station where we heard her greetings and a song played for our arrival and my birthday - how nice!. Manfred organised a special berth alongside the jetty, the sun is shining the whole day and it got rather warm - so so all is good here! AHOI! Arne and the Iemanja crew and welcomers

departure Penzance

Arne
Hi all, we lwft at 0830 this morning Penzance and are aiming for Brighton or Eastbourne, 230 nm away. We are motorsailing in a weak SW of 5 - 10 kn and it is foggy with visibility between 0.5, and 3 nm, sometimes the sun tries to get through the clouds. The radar is of great help as not all fishing boats have AIS equipment on board and there are many around! The stopover in Penzance was really great as we arrived just in time for the yearly Golowan Festival with parades, live music, a fun fair just across the road from our harbour basin and a good mood in the small town. I always wanted to visit Cornwall but twice ended up on the other side of the Channel at Gurnsey, now we've made it! Only the weather was not like summer: except for 2 half days it was cold, rainy and windy, just right to sit in a Cafe or a Pub watching soccer or for a walk on the beach in gumboots and wet weather gear. The day after our arrival we did an excursion by train to St. Ives, visited the TATE gallery and Barbara Hepworth's sculpture garden and had an ice cream and really good time in this picturesque town on the west coast of Cornwall. In Penzance the small wet dock harbour basin was packed with visiting traditional boats and yachts, we were 2nd boat to the pier in a 4 boat pack, others had to raft up 6 deep. Because I lent my wet suit to our french neighbours who had to cut away a rope from their fouled propeller, we were invited for lunch on their boat. As one expects the food was great and out of the wine cellar (they dio have a custom built wine bottle storage in their bilge) came a fine drop followed by coffee and cognac. But we also enjoyed the local Fish & Chips, Cidar and Bitter Ale. All is well on board AHOI! Andrea, Martin, Arne
