We are anchored off of Kelsey Point on the Conneticut shore of Long Island sound. We left Point Judith this morning as planned and had a great passage to The Race, the entry to the sound where the current floods in at 3 knots. But, whoever predicted 10-15 knot winds and 2-foot seas today missed the call...by a lot. After several hours under a double-reefer main and working jib, close-hauled in a steady 29-25 knots with gusts to 30+ and 3-5 foot seas we motorsailed up to the windward shore and anchored to let things calm down, sleep, and eat. supposedly the winds will calm after midnight so we'll resume when we wake up....
