Waccamaw!
17 November 2010 | Thoroughfare Creek, SC
Waccamaw is the name of the river we've been on most of today and its one of my favorite parts of the whole ICW. Both because it is very remote and beautiful, especially after the over-developed ditch that precedes it, and because you've just gotta love that name!
We're anchored in a small creek just off the Waccamaw about ten miles from Georgetown, which we hope to explore tomorrow.Today was a leisurely day that saw us dropping the hook at two in the afternoon, giving Evelyn and Leslie several hours to paddle in to shore and explore the beach and paths there. Not that their day was all play: As usual there were math lessons in the morning followed by more general reading for Leslie while Evelyn worked on future lesson plans.
Tonight we seem to be sharing the anchorage with two other sailboats and a trawler. No problem: there's plenty of space here and I expect we'll all have a quiet night.
