This place is for the birds!

Well, we're technically still in Miami bur we've moved from the northern edge to the southern edge. We're staying in phone/data range so I can catch up on a bunch of work stuff before we head for the keys but we needed to get under the Tuttle bridge: It's posted clearance is only 55 feet and our mast height is 56...Fortunately, at low tide there was 57 feet of clearance so we popped under with a foot to spare! Once under that, there were four more bridges and then Biscayne Bay opened out before us.
What a sight! After months and more than a thousand miles in the ICW, the shores fell away and a true horizon beckoned across sparkling waters that were COVERED with sailboats of all shapes and sizes. We put up our sails and for the first time since we left the Chesapeake, turned off the engine and sailed silently. It was only a couple of miles to the entry channel for the marina, but it was a gorgeous sail and made us hanker to do lots more.
There is a front coming through today so we'll stay here a couple of nights to let me catch up and wait out the rain squalls...
