We have returned to Cocoa (we were here for Christmas) where we have rented a car for the weekend and are visiting the Kennedy Space Center. Its a fascinating place for us geeky-types and certainly fires the imagination. Its also a somewhat poignant time to visit with the last shuttle mission on the launchpad being prepared for the final flight.
Of course, being an engineer who remembers watching the Gemini and Apollo missions as well as an educator, I'm a dang nuisance or a great guide in a place like this...often both! Fortunately Evelyn and Leslie both enjoy learning the techie-stuff. Of course, Leslie's wildlife observation skills remain in play: When we drove over a bridge, she spotted dolphins in the canal. Not to mention alligators in the roadside ditches and a small herd of wild boars!
The clever folks at the visitor complex decided to make the admission price good for two days so you can do stuff until you're tired and then come back the next day and do more...So we're spending the whole weekend here and doing some re-provisioning between visits to the Space Center.
