The Grander Scheme: s/v Northern Symphony

Another simple dream...Another crazy notion: To make a sequel to our Grand Scheme by making an extended great loop starting from our home in Nova Scotia. One boat, two so-called adults, one or two children, and one cat.

Deer Crossing

13 April 2011 | Charleston, SC
Anne
It's not often one sees deer from a boat, and probably even less often that one sees them run along the shore, plunge into the water, and cross the channel in front of the boat. But that's exactly what happened. I (Anne) was at the helm and saw the deer. I was concerned about hitting them, so had already slowed to idle speed, and then shifted into neutral, but the current was washing the deer closer and closer to the boat, so I had to turn sharply as possible without getting into shallow water. Success! Evelyn managed to snap a picture as they made their way to the opposite bank. Leslie wondered if we'd hit one, would it be channel kill?

We arrived in Charleston in the early afternoon. Colin leaves for a few days Thursday morning.
