Capital Visit

Anne
We (Evelyn, Leslie, and Anne) spent a few days visiting with friends and relatives in the Washington, DC area as well as touring museums until we'd had enough. It was great to see a college friend and her family and use their home in Hyattsville as our base of operation. We took the Metro into DC daily and visited the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History (three different times), the Renwick Gallery, the American History Museum, and the Library of Congress.
We were very impressed with the Library of Congress building (bottom left and turtle from the fountain outside), but surprised at the paucity of books in evidence. The butterfly hall at the Natural History Museum was filled with very curious butterflies, but the rocks and minerals, ocean exhibit, mammal exhibit, and human evolution exhibit were some of our favorites.
My aunt and uncle took us out to dinner followed by a delightful evening chatting in their living room.
