Last Night at Anchor
31 July 2007 | Valley Cove in Sommes Sound, Maine

Valley Cove is a beautiful spot on the west side of Sommes Sound, a five mile long fjord that cuts two-thirds of the way into Mount Desert Island (technically, for all you geology purists it is actually a “fjard, which is shallower than a fjord – but don’t try to explain this to the Maine Visitors Bureau…). It was a fitting stay for our last night anchored out in Maine, and it was the first spot Dave and Sharon anchored overnight during their sea trials of Tahu Le’a after she was launched in May 1999. We all enjoyed our last cocktail hour at anchor (something the kids especially are going to miss come fall!) while avoiding the fast approaching time to start packing up for home.
