Sorrento Soiree!
29 July 2007 | Sorrento Harbor, Maine
Kim
After a beautiful sail from Southwest Harbor, where we essentially circled half-way around Mount Desert Island, we arrived in Sorrento. Sorrento is a small harbor and village northeast of MDI and across Frenchman's Bay from Bar Harbor. After all our summers in Maine we had never made it around to this side of MDI, and it was nice to enjoy the scenery as well as pleasant sailing on protected waters. Although Sorrento is a nice little town in and of itself to visit, we traveled there for a rendezvous with our friends from Wickford RI, who have a summer cabin in Sorrento. Our friends from Symphony, who now reside in Nova Scotia and hence came by ferry and car instead of boat, came down to Sorrento as well! We all enjoyed seeing everyone again, partying and pot lucking on Sorrento's town dock (Carefully planned to be held around high tide, so Tahu Le'a could safely float next to the dock!).
