Next day we had a deep water passage across the North West Providence Channel to Lucaya on Grand Bahama Island., we tried fishing but never got a hit, oh well, no Maui Maui for us this year. Lucaya is a maze of canals, they are everywhere and most of it is undeveloped so there’s not much around. We anchored in one not far from a deserted marina, we were fine until next day when a guy from the marina stopped by to tell us that we couldn’t anchor there and for us to move on, we were apparently in the way of barges that may or may not show up, if we didn’t move he was going to call “the man”. We moved to another canal rather than cause any grief, three other boats we met also had the same experience even though last year there was no problem.
Later we thought we would take the dinghy to the Port Lucaya Marketplace, to have lunch and have a look around. We couldn’t find a place to leave the dinghy so we went to a nearby marina, they said that for $25.00 we could leave the dinghy for a couple of hours, needless to say they never got our $25.00 and we never got our lunch. We didn’t care much for Lucaya and will probably never go back, maybe it was just our experience, I don’t know. We stayed just long enough in Lucaya for yet another cold front to go by, there’s not a lot of time between them for traveling
