Rocna anchor

This morning when we awoke most all the other boats were gone; they got an early start to where ever they were going. Today would have been a good day for crossing the Gulf Stream, maybe that's where they went. Our anchor arrived this morning; the guy from Azure Marine showed up around 1000hrs, we met him at a public boat ramp down one of the canals here. We purchased a Rocna, they have a very good reputation but we'll see how they do in the Bahamas. Last year we dragged a couple of times using a CQR and a Dan fort, it's not nice to be awakened in the middle of a dark windy night by the dragging anchor alarm, especially when your near a lee shore and other boats who can't be bothered to use a anchor light. The Rocna looks good and they're suppose to come from New Zealand but ours had a small sticker on it that says "made in China", I'm very disappointed by this, I don't have anything against China and it's people but there has been a lot of crappy products coming out of there, they don't seem to have the same quality control as some other countries. Rocna anchors are guaranteed for life but that's little constellation when your boat is on the rocks or you've run into some other boat. We spent the rest of the day turning the chain around and switching ends, we carry 250 feet of chain but only about half that has ever seen the water so we now have the good end attached to the anchor and the used end in the anchor locker.
