Cat Island

11 February 2011
Howard
Pulled anchor at 0700 hrs and headed for Cat Island, a distance of 45 miles or so. It’s a deep water passage and we managed to sail most of the way, didn’t get a hit on the fishing line until we were in shallow water again, we hooked something and almost got it to the boat before it managed to escape with one of our best lures, it was about 4 feet in length and probably was to big for us to handle anyway. We heard someone on the radio say they had just caught a fish weighing over 90 pounds, that’s a lot of fish to have thrashing around in a boat that’s not designed for fishing. We arrived at 1645 to anchor at New Bight, there are three other boats here already and we spent a quite night anchored just off the town’s government wharf
