Marsh Harbour

We’ve been having strong easterly winds while in Marsh Harbour, the recommendations are to stay away from any of the cuts and passages as they are to dangerous to navigate in a small boat. There’s about a dozen or so boats anchored here but it’s a large harbour and everyone is well spread out, some people spend the entire winter here and visit some of the smaller cays and islands when the weather allow. There are lots to see and do here in Marsh Harbour, with a population of over 5000 people it is the largest town in the Abacos, the third largest town in the Bahamas and a major gateway to some of the smaller cays. There’s a shopping center, restaurants, bars etc and just about anything you may want is available here. It’s also home to some boat charter companies but anyone chartering a boat this week would be disappointed by all the wind and rough conditions out in the Sea of Abaco. We will probably move on soon but won’t be going far, just across to Hopetown, a distance of about 10 miles. There’s a weather window coming up later in the week and we hope to get out of the Abacos and move further South to maybe Eleuthera, it all depends on the weather
