Cold front coming
22 February 2013 | Hog Cay
Howard
Our hitch hiker is still with us.
We went around Hog Cay and anchored off Pig Point to wait out the winds that are coming, it offers fair protection and good protection once the wind turns to a more northerly direction, 10 boats anchored here, 3 elected to stay put at Hog Cay and most went to South Bay on Ragged Island. The wind arrived that night with some gusts over 30 knots, mostly from the North West, we made out well but some of the boats that went to South Bay dragged anchor during the night, hitting each other and causing considerable damage. The ones that stayed at Hog Cay had a safe but uncomfortable night riding the higher waves and gusty winds. Next day after the winds went to the North East we went back to Hog Cay and took up our usual spot while anchoring there, it offers good protection from easterly winds
