A quaint fishing village on the South coast of Newfoundland.
After a summer of dinghy sailing, sailing on a friend’s boat, camping etc. it’s now time to start packing and getting ready to head south. We haven’t seen any snow yet but it can’t be far away, already there have been some mornings with a heavy frost on the ground, hopefully we should be on our way in a few days time.
The highlight of this summer has to be our trip to Newfoundland to attend our nephew’s wedding, while the weather could have been better it was still an enjoyable trip, the wedding was beautiful and we got to visit friends and family that we haven’t seen in some time. The last time we visited there was ten years ago, needless to say a lot of things have changed since then, some not for the better. The scenery is just as beautiful as ever through out the province but in and around the St. John’s area it has really built up, there are mega homes and subdivisions everywhere, prices have sky rocketed and crime is on the rise. Gone are the days of quaint fishing villages and a simple lifestyle, the oil industry is booming and the area reflects it, nothing stays the same, it’s the price you pay for progress.
