Fred with Penny's 2 cents
Last night we went to a baseball game where the Mazatlan Venados were playing the Culiacan something's. It was a lot of fun and like an old time ball game before the players were getting multimillion dollar salaries. Tickets were $85 pesos ($7.00) and peanuts were 20 pesos and a coke was 15 pesos. Can't do that in the US!
Penny's Two Cents: It was lots of fun! EXCEPT for the two people, directly behind Fred & I, each armed with Air Horns! My ears are still ringing and you might not be surprised that we left before the game was over. The score was tied when we left so we don't know who won! You should have seen the assortment of edible items for sale by vendors - one young man had a hotdog on his head which was a humorous sight, another selling BBQ ribs, sausages speared with tooth picks, chicharonne's (spelling wrong, this is fried pork rinds accompanied by lots of salsa picante), plastic glasses of fresh cut fruit, peanuts/pinones/pepitas - and tons of cerveza flowing - beer is king here and it seems to be equally divided between the ones who favor Pacifico and those who prefer Corona; the home team was sponsored by Pacifico. There is even a monument on the Malecon to Pacifico. It is the top of one of the old brewing vats that looks like copper but probably just paint.
Quite a festive occasion and boy, do the Mexican's like their noise!
