Baja Bash Part 2 Still on Hold
29 May 2011 | Still in Turtle Bay
Fred
Well the weather gods are not cooperating as far as the outside weather is concerned on our course to San Diego but they are looking kindly on us here in Turtle Bay. It has been calm and warm with some wind kicking up in the afternoon and into the evening. We have spent our time doing boat projects and planning the evening meal and occasionally taking the $10 panga ride to town and cruising around and eating lunch or getting an ice cream. We continue to go to La Palapa as it is a nice little restaurant with a terrific view and good food and wonderful owners. Yesterday they let us come in and play Mexican Train and of course we all had lunch and drinks so it was good for them as well. We had 7 playing train and it was fun and I am second so far. I say so far because since we are still here we may play again today.
We are hoping to be able to leave on Monday some time as it looks like a reasonable window to get north for 24-48 hours. Hopefully it is 48 as we may be able to get to Ensenada by then. We are trying to find a diver to clean the bottom and we will top up our fuel tanks. That is the extent of today’s activity as I see it. Tonight we barbeque the last of our fresh meat, if the wind is not too strong to blow out the barbeque, and we will watch some more episodes of Adventures in Paradise. This was a TV show I watched as a youngster growing up in the late 50’s to early 60’s and whet my appetite for sailing to the south pacific or just sailing at all.
Waiting, Waiting, Waiting!
