The Turtle Bay 3

Looking relaxed aren’t we after being stuck here for 10 days now. I was informed that we just tied Julie and Ross MacDonald’s record and they are prepared to hand over the trophy when we all get together in San Diego. About 25 cruisers, off the 12 boats we have waiting it out, met at the world headquarters of The Turtle Bay 3, the La Palapa restaurant. It was Pacifico’s all around with Lemonade for us teetotalers. The discussion was, “do we go outside of Isla Benitos to get a better sailing angle to San Quintin” or “the inside route up the lee of Cedros”. The weather picture this morning looked good for an early morning departure on Saturday with lighter winds and calmer seas for the next few days. Unfortunately, this afternoon I pulled up an update and some of our window has closed down and not as open for as long as we would like. However we have to get out of here since we are down to our last 500 pesos and need to get home. So right now it looks like we will leave first light on Saturday and go outside around Isla Benitos as the wind looks lighter on the outside and we should be able to tack over and have a favorable heading to San Quintin or just below. Looking at 60-70 hour trip depending on sea state. We topped off the fuel today, cleaned up the boat, shined up the barbeque and stowed it and Bob has 3 casserole type meals set aside for the passage. Tonight we are pan frying carne asada with grilled onions, sautéed mushrooms, black beans, sliced tomatoes, avocado and cheese with flour and corn tortillas.
We were going to watch a pirated copy of Facebook that we borrowed but it won’t play on our DVD so it’s back to Adventures in Paradise!
