A Really Fun Day

We woke up to a beautiful sunrise that only La Paz can produce.
First off was the Revolution day parade which started at 9:00 AM. We walked down the Malecon to a small shop that sold coffee and cinnamon rolls and got a good window table overlooking the street. The parade started and there were a million kids dressed in their school or sports uniforms. Each school or sports team was preceded by a vehicle carrying the biggest speakers and generator to blast out the music that the kids performed to. I think there had to be a prize for the biggest truck with the biggest speakers. Then the Marina (Mexican Navy) came with their obstacle course and dogs and demonstrations of disarming each other. Then finally, about noon, came the horses followed by the cleanup crew. Obviously they have the horses last so the kids don't have to watch out for horse poop.
After the parade, Ian and I needed a haircut and got a recommendation from some of the locals so we jumped into his car and took off. The barber is just one block from our favorite Tacos Fish restaurant so we thought we would kill two birds with one stone. Well the barber was closed, probably because of the parade, so we stopped in for a fish taco. I had a shrimp quesadilla that was to die for and is my new favorite. Only 25 pesos which is $2.00.
Ian needed some parts so we drove around looking for parts and got a tour of the city and were successful in getting what he needed.
Then at 4:00 it was time for the Baja Ha Ha party welcoming all the cruisers to La Paz. For $100 pesos you got 2 beers and a very good Mexican Buffet with rice, beans, tortillas, fish, and shrimp and all the fixings''. Also some great entertainment including some folklorico dancers and a really great 10 piece Mariachi band that was the best I have ever heard. As Al said, they were professional and all their instruments were in tune.
It was quite an end to a perfect day in La Paz. Many more to come.
