North to the Cold

We left La Paz last week and flew home to take care of some business. Flew on Spirit Air where they charge you for everything. If you want an aisle or window seat it's $25 bucks. Want to check a bag it's 25 bucks. Drinks or coffee are extra also. So we packed light in backpacks only as if it fits under the seat it's free, so being on a budget (read retired), we hopped the bus for the 3 hour ride to Cabo airport. Boarded our plane and it was only half full so as soon as we took off and the fasten seat belt sign went off there was a mad scramble for new seats. We lucked out and got two good ones up front.
Arrived in SD and they are spending a billion dollars on an expansion to the terminals. If you build it they will come, at least they hope more airlines will show up. Got a cab and it was 3 bucks when the door closed. The short way out to Point Loma was not available due to construction so we had to do a serpentine route in the opposite direction and by the time we got to the place we would have come out if the short cut was open we were close to 10 bucks! As we live a short distance from the airport it was a 20 buck cab ride which used to be 10. So much for progress.
After taking care of business we saddled up the old Durango and pointed her North and took off at 5am. The drive was it's usual beautiful self and we arrived in Lake Tahoe after hooking up with condo roommates Bob and Claudette Vincent. The other 3 roomies showed up a little later with the Costco run with food for 7 for 7 days. Hard to find room for all of it but the beer and wine went out on the deck to stay at about 38 degrees. We all got settled and it is a very comfortable condo.
Next morning bright and early we had breakfast and headed for the slopes where we found a bit of a crowd (MLK birthday) but good skiing. It felt good to ski again as I missed last year due to a knee replacement. Glad to report that the new knee works perfect and doesn't hurt anymore.
Can't post any pics until I get back to the computer in La Paz. Today it looks cold as it snowed a little
Sat night and supposed to snow off and on for the last 2 days of our ski vacation. We will be ready for 80 degrees in La Paz!
