Getting some boat projects done

We took advantage of the windy weather and had some boat projects done. We had both the aft guest stateroom and the forward owner's stateroom refurbished. We replaced all the vinyl that lined the hull and the overhead. Hector did a magnificent job and is a real craftsman. Of course Penny went to San Diego while I stayed to oversee the job. We did the aft cabin first so that I would have a place to sleep while the forward cabin got the treatment. While the aft cabin was torn up I took the cover off the bunk cushion and had them dry cleaned, patched and a new zipper put in. Then I had a bunk to sleep in.
We started the forward cabin and moved the queen mattress into the salon and placed it on the dining table. So then it was ok to eat in bed! Anyway I slept in the aft cabin for a week and it was quite comfortable.
I went to pick up Penny in Cabo and Hector came down to finish detailing his work. I had hoped he would have finished a day earlier so I could clean the interior and put it back together before Penny arrived. Hector finished at 4:00pm and we arrived at 5:00pm. Penny thinks I planned it that way as we spent all the next day cleaning top to bottom inside and out.
I also had a bow sprit made to fly the asymmetric spinnaker off of to keep it out of the way of the bow pulpit. It is made from schedule 40 stainless tube 3 inches in diameter and easily bolts in over the spare bow roller. It worked quite good in the race so I am happy with it.
Today we had the main salon Upholstrey cleaned so we are all cleaned up and ready to leave tomorrow and head north into the Sea of Cortez to explore for 3 to 4 weeks. Hopefully the Northers are about done but I am sure we will get some wind. Would be nice to have it for the return trip to La Paz but we will see.
